Bridge & Key is an artist collective focusing on providing mutual support to women and non-binary musical artists during their album release processes.
Our goal is to provide ease, community, and shared skills during a process that can oftentimes feel individualistic and lonely, as well as providing a formal body that can advocate externally for each artist. B&K is founded and steered by Rachel Sumner, Sadie Gustafson-Zook, and Emily Cunningham.
Mission Statement
The goal of the Bridge & Key is to create a community of independent songwriters that share skills, knowledge, and support around each artist’s respective album release process through internal support and external advocacy:
Internally, B&K intends to be a collective where mutuality improves the album release process for each participant. In offering our own skills, we feel energized by being of service to others, and in receiving the skills of others we feel supported and interconnected to a broader musical community.
Externally, B&K can advocate on behalf of collective members to press outlets, using B&K’s industry standing to uplift each artist.
Is Bridge & Key a record label?
No, we are not a record label. We do not give funds to artists for making records. We are a collective of songwriters who share resources and skills with the goal of helping each artist release their album into the world.
B&K does not own the master audio files of their artists, and membership is not legally binding. One of our goals is to advocate for our artists and we believe that there’s strength in numbers. So while this is not a traditional record label, some of our members may choose to release albums under the Bridge & Key umbrella.
